A College trip..Where friends became family!!

Industrial visit is a integral part of every college going students life. Its that time of life where we enjoy with friends the most. In my third year of college, one such trip was planned. The destination selected was north india. A month before our IV,we were making plans and discussing about it! As the day arrived, excitement grew. On 5th january..as d sun went down..v all were on our way to join the main event..at bombay central! It was totally buzzy and filled with students carrying big trolley bags n handbags!! As expected we few friends were already hungry and had a snack at mcdonald's then and there!! Soon our train..the infamous Golden temple mail arrived!

We rushed to our boogie n grabbed our seats randomly!! Some emotional scenes of being away from family were visible outside outside our compartment!! And then Our journey of life began!! Most of us were busy digging into the food we carried!! Chitchatting, clicking pics, playing cards soon followed! We were busy in waking up and troubling d people who had slept! Soon even we tried to sleep but alas, within 10 mins everyone was awake again and got into snacking..Be it puri, sev, biscuits, amla, cashewnut etc!!Finally after two attempts ..majority people slept! Next day morning everyone got up and tea rounds started. Others were into checking cricket scores for a tendulkar ton. Soon we got into d most enjoyed game of d tour "ONHO" bettr known as UNO!! Some guys of our group were busy plotting plans to make selective friends lose!! The atmosphere was full of fun!! We would get down at few stations and look around shops!! Our Lunch comprised of paneer and gulab jamun, but did we know that it would become a staple diet of our iv!! We were entertained by a boy who sang hilarious item songs with a clipping instrument, namely tinku jiya ,munni badnaam hui shiela jawaan hui!! A toy seller continously played a irritating sound of a toy gun in our compartment to irritate a few friends!! At delhi, frnds misplaced their cell phones to create a minor panic!! The chill in th weather could be felt from delhi itself. Next morning we got to know that our train engine wasn't working and so we had to wait for a hour. We experienced jerks in d train n could also feel it gng backwards which created a minor panic again!! But soon..we were on our way to amritsar..cud see lush green fields outside! We reached amritsar station and took a few snaps of the place with our group and made our way to the buses. When we heard sommone is planing to cancel wagah border visit ,everyone errupted in anger!! Soon we were taken to our hotel SG resorts located on the highway. Few bags were lost n found in the process! We were alloted our rooms. Our room of 4 accomodated 7 people as friends refused to stay in different rooms. After lunch ,we made way to the wagah border!! The andrenaline began to pump.  We related the border movie scenes with the actual scenary around. As we reached the border crossing,we could see a Indo pak bus going to lahore. Couldnt believe lahore was just 23 kms away!

We got down to be chased by kids selling flags, cds of border movie n patriotic songs!! We made our way past the security to step into a big stand filled with people cheering india!! It was almost like a India pakistan cricket match stadium atmosphere. The ceremony went amazingly well. The show of strength was good to see.

Our throats became soar shouting for the nation. Later in the evening, we visited the devine Golden temple in a nerve cracking rickshaw ride!! The experience was too good and the friends i was with there made it even special! The chilled floor, cold water and devine feeling creeped in. We visited the shrine and got blessings bestowed upon us.

That night back in the hotel we enjoyed camp-fire along with a midnight uno game!! Next day we were taken around haywire for 3-4 hours in which a industry jus disappeared!! The bus ride was tiring but a one sided game of antakshari gave utmost pleasure! We returned for lunch only to know that our dalhousie trip was cancelled due to snowfall. We went roaming in d evening in the amritsar market and had delicious kailas lassi.  After dinner we departed for a overnight journey to manali. It was a tiring 14 hour journey. It was severely cold but me and my companions were well "settled"!! Next morning we halted at mandi , a small town near shimla and clicked many pics at riverside along with breakfast. Soon snow clad mountains and d buzzy sutlaj river made their way to us. First touch of snow on the manali highway was extreme. Hands numb n gloves wet we were still playing with it. We reached out hotel which was river crescent. We friends took a big room, which was a luxurious suite with 2 beds..2 Lcds..n a balcony!! Heaters werent needed in our room because the heat of jealous people was enough to keep us warm!! The lunch was followed with a relaxing afternoon. We explored the nearby area while a few slipped in d evening walk and few went to mall road in a cheap bus ride. But the best  experience was about to come. We were served hot yummiest maggi(with onions n green chillies) at a nearby shop which made our evening. We were loaded with  bottles of coldrink n chips!! The night was extreme fun. Along with students,we could hear our prof's weird drunk talks while we were chatting around with friends!! Running away from them when they sensed us at 1.30am midnight was a height!! A great late night chat with friends along was a stress buster. A early morning walk in snow gave a great start to d day. We made our cutest snowman gathering things out of waste.!The making process of him is unforgettable!!

Gathering stones, grass, ribbons, toothbrush and snowballs was a exciting event. Later we made our way to the mall road..It was all slippery. We had yummy hot corn and tea. Many clicked their pics with a bunny!! Roaming, slipping around and bargaining for woollen clothes gave great pleasure. We had a yummy chicken meal at sher-e-punjab! It was great to meet my school mates who had come for their college trip in the manali market. As temperature dropped down we,accompanied by hot tea, made our way to the hotel. Few ran through d slippery way. We slowly walked down the road taking pics of beautiful nature and finally getting a lift by a friend to the hotel!! Soon we started our journey to chandigarh. It was a gr8 overnight bus journey to the plains of punjab.  We were welcomed to chandigarh by our other branch mates who stayed nearby. A delicious breakfast followed suit. Finally we visited the aim of our iv..a industry! Though it was merely a  photo session n eve tea break!! Visit to the rock garden was a formality, though clicking snaps was nice.

Shopping at sector 17 followed. We shopped for ourselves in less than an hour. We were scattered everywhere and hence made our way to the bus as fast as we could. A nervous rickshaw ride with my friends in a unknown city was a nice experience!!Dinner at night was accompanied by a dj. We dozed off watching a exciting soccer game. Next day we left for ambala junction. We spent quite a while on the platform having tea and chitchatting. Again a long train journey was to be done! A heartening game of uno was followed by departure of one of our friends at delhi. Soon different games creeped in and all in all it was fun!! A barista stone cold icecream was the nights highlight. A few creepy people were successfully dealt by us n our funfilled talks!! A early morning tea was followed by a final game of uno! We sang loads of songs till we reached close to our destination!! It was indeed sad to depart from my friends who had eventually become my new family..but the numerous memories we gathered in this lovely trip will stay fresh for a long long time to come!!
